The Importance of a Great Social Media Profile
Ingrain Social Media Tip of the Day #9
Your Bio/Profile is One of the Most Important Elements of Your Social Media Presence
Your profile is the first thing your social media followers see. It is important that the photos you choose are both professional and consistent from one network to the next. You want someone who knows you on LinkedIn to be able to immediately recognize you on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram etc. This is not the place to post a selfie, family photos, or your vacation shots. Consider having a professional headshot taken, or ask a friend who is good with photography to take a photo for you. You will want good lighting and a place where there will be no clutter in the background. Before signing up for social media accounts, check for name availability.
You will want to use the same name on all platforms, and you may have to get creative. Whether you plan on using your personal name or a business name, checking for name availability prior to setting up accounts will save you a lot of frustration as you go.
A good bio will quickly tell people the most important details about you, what qualifies you to do what you do and gives a convincing call-to-action.
