Why is it important to build a brand?
Whether you run a large corporation, or you own a small two-man business, we all need to understand why it’s important to build a brand. This information is especially important if you’re an independent agent such as a massage therapist, esthetician, hair stylist, real estate agent, or just an individual trying to build their side hustle so that you can walk away from your day job.
Taking the steps to build your brand and understanding the importance of your brand will give you a huge head start as you build your business. It will also put you in a position where you’re taken more seriously.
Most likely, you’re not a big company, so why is it as important for you to have a solid brand as it is for, say Walmart or Pepsi?
It is important to build your personal brand or your businesses’ brand because it establishes your identity as you build your business and you go through your career. Your personal brand will establish a reputation for you as your career progresses, it will also help you pivot as you make your journey. If you are taking the time to establish your brand, you will be known as the expert in what you do, and people will want to support you. It will also solidify your stance as an industry expert.
Whether you’re an independent agent or a small business, why would people look to you for advice or know-how if you’ve done nothing to prove you’re the expert?
Building your brand and putting out content will create a persona and perception that you are the expert at what you do. This will not only help you get more business, but it will build trust and authority. When you build authority, you will have the ability to speak on topics related to your industry, and people will listen. They will also come to you for answers to their questions because they trust that you know what you’re talking about. This won’t be possible if you haven’t built a brand and become known as the person or company that is an expert.
Building authority and having the trust of the people you are trying to convert to clients is done by establishing and creating your brand. It makes you a reputable and trustworthy point of contact that people can source information from. If you’re trying to convert customers and build your network, taking the time to build a brand that stands for something, you will be known as the person or the business that has all of the information in the industry, and when people have a question, or they need your service or your product, they’re going to turn to you because you’ve already established that you are the expert and that people can trust you.
If you can build your brand as somebody who knows what they’re talking about and want to help other people or other businesses, then you’re building a brand that has a story, and a brand that people can trust.
